If reading the labels isn’t your favorite hobby, we’ll give you a few good reasons to go through the ingredients of every product you buy, including ketchup.
Companies always list the ingredients in accordance with the amount they add, going from the highest concentrations to the trace ingredients. In this way you are able to control what goes in your mouth.
Is Heinz’s ketchup your favorite? If yes, you better know what this ketchup is made from:
High fructose corn syrup
This product is loaded with high fructose corn syrup. You could’ve spot this easily if the company didn’t list it under a different name. Twice. It says “corn syrup” instead of its real name.
Your body metabolizes high fructose corn syrup as sugar, and this causes high spikes in blood sugar levels, and affects the normal function of your liver. It’s a GMO product, and leads to excess weight gain, heart disease, diabetes, and poor immunity.
Distilled vinegar and sugar
Yes, there’s more sugar coming your way with every bite you take. Every tablespoon of ketchup contains about 4 grams of sugar. “Sweet!”
Distilled vinegar is made from GMO corn.
So, why would you use anything that contains GMOs, sugar, chemicals, and no nutrients? Heinz’s ketchup is the last thing you want to eat. Oh, and let’s not forget that the ketchup also contains additives, salt, and onion powder. Don’t expect to find fiber, protein, and other nutrients in this ketchup.
Next time, replace your ketchup with other tomatoey stuff.
